Mount of the Beatitudes
This site is the daily journal of a pilgrim on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, with his wife and thirty others, to walk in the steps of Jesus. It’s mostly serious, a quest for meaning, a quest for faith, a quest for certitude.

Shaun, I would be interested to hear your reflections of whether this trip stands athwart of competing world views; the world of faith and the world of the historical record. You are in an land steeped in markers confirming the realities of a time long past. The walls, harbors, the gates all stand as concrete physical proof of a past that once existed. But this physical space of empiric evidence is also draped in a world built, not of stone, but of faith. Here at home, far removed, it is easy to reconcile the two. They are separate entities, one not greatly affected by the other.
But as you walk in this foundational land, I wonder if you are finding it easy to reconcile them or if the lines blur….or if what was once unclear to you now takes on stark relief, comforting understanding, and new found appreciation.
